Lymphatic Drainage Massage (LDM) is a light to medium pressure massage focused on flushing the lymphatic system of toxins and excess fluids.  It can help with lymphedema, in which lymphatic fluid collects in certain areas of the body because it cannot drain away effectively without assistance.  LDM can also be used to keep the lymphatic system efficient and mostly in tandem with a body cleanse like fasting and juicing program.

LDM It is most commonly applied to patients that have undergone cosmetic or soft tissue surgery recently such as a tummy tuck, breast reduction, lipo, etc…  If this is your case, then your doctor may recommend LDM to help rid the fluid buildup.  You are likely still swollen and inflamed and may have a drip or drain line. This may require more than one session and typically precedes the Lymphatic Massage.

The Lymphatic Massage is similar to LDM but focuses on loosening the muscles and scar tissues but after much of the swelling has gone down and no longer acutely inflamed.  This is to break up the stiffness from the excess fascia using a firmer and sometimes deep pressure techniques to accomplish this and bring the flesh to a more natural and smoother feel.  This may require more than one session or until the desired results.  Please feel free to call and consult with one of our lead therapists for more information.
